6. "Faith" - 1918 Many residents watched the launching of the "Faith", the world's first cement ocean-going vessel, in 1918. The "Faith", constructed at a shipyard on Redwood Creek, was built for fighting German U-boats in World War I. The ship never saw any military action, however, since the Armistice was signed a few months later. |
