kapalakiko hawaiian band The Kapalakiko Hawaiian Band was formed in 1984 with the goal to preserve, perpetuate and promote the culture of Hawai'i.  Our name Kapalakiko is from the Hawaiian word for San Francisco.  Even though our performances are centered in the San Francisco Bay area, they also radiate throughout the state of California, nationally within the United States, back to our ‘āina[homeland] of Hawai‘i and into the international sphere of World Music.  We perform not only to entertain our audiences, but to cultivate their knowledge about the rich history of Hawai‘i through music and dance. We provide "the good stuff" in the mele ku‘i tradition. We use both traditional and western instruments and the various genres of Hawaiian music to emphasize the beauty of the Hawaiian language, lyrics, and poetry to complement the hula.

Halau Hula Na Wai Ola of Cupertino
The halau is under the direction of Kau`i Isa-Kahaku and has been in existence for over 11 years. Halau Na Wai Ola participates in several competitions, festivals and community events throughout the year and has traveled as far as Italy to perform. Halau Hula Na Wai Ola's mission is to make a positive impact on people's lives through the Hawaiian art of the Hula, and the spirit of Aloha.

Makahiki Games
Makahiki season was a time when war was suspended for three to four months, taxes were paid to the chiefs according to the abundance of the year's harvest, and festivities, feasting and games filled the days.  Following are some of the games that the public can try throughout the day:

- 'o'o ihe - Spear throwing
- ulumaika - bowling a round stone through pegs
- moa pahe'e - dart sliding
- huki kaula - tug of war
- hu - kukui nut tops (Make your own to keep, then   compete with it!)
