Redwood City 2020
Community Based Child Welfare Services

The Redwood City Community Schools have been selected as a pilot site for Child Welfare Redesign (Differential Response), a state-wide initiative through the County of San Mateo, Human Services Agency.

Through this pilot program, the Community Schools house community workers. These Community Workers work with families referred to Child Protective Services (where there is little or no risk of harm to the youth) in order to provide community services that can support the family in their day to day life and ability to effectively parent.

Through this relationship, at-risk and vulnerable families in Redwood City are appropriately linked to mental health treatment and other vital community services. For more information visit the San Mateo County Human Services Agency online.
