Celebrate Redwood City’s New Commuter Shuttle with Ribbon Cutting on April 9th
Redwood City, CA - March 28 , 2007 -
The community of Redwood City is invited to join Mayor Barbara Pierce and City Council Member Diane Howard as they formally unveil Redwood City’s new Mid Point Shuttle service. A ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new service will be held on Monday, April 9th from 8 - 8:30 am at the Redwood City Caltrain station shuttle stop, located in the Samtrans parking lot adjacent to James Avenue (see map). Pastries and coffee will be served, as Redwood City kicks off its new commuter shuttle program.
The Mid Point Shuttle starts running on April 2nd, and is designed to provide employees at Mid Point Technology Park with shuttle service directly from the Redwood City Caltrain Station. It’s the first phase of a two-part community shuttle program - the second phase is currently being planned and will focus on addressing mid-day transportation needs of the Redwood City community.
Mayor Barbara Pierce and Council Member Diane Howard, who is also Chair of the Board of Directors of the Peninsula Traffic Congestion Relief Alliance, the agency that is managing the service, will ceremonially open the new service.
“This is a very important step in helping commuters with alternate transportation,” said Diane Howard. “We’re beginning this service by reaching into a known employee commuter base at Mid Point, and we think this is the start of a viable service that will be very attractive to the community.”
This shuttle service is provided by the City of Redwood City, the Bay Area Air Quality Management District, and local employers being served by the shuttle service. The service is managed by the Peninsula Traffic Congestion Relief Alliance.
The Redwood City Mid Point Shuttle service will operate Monday through Friday beginning at 6:33 am from the Redwood City Caltrain Station, making stops along Broadway to Mid Point Technology Park. The last morning shuttle will depart at 8:56 am. Service runs again in the afternoons starting at 3:27 pm from Mid Point, with the last shuttle leaving Mid Point at 7:01 pm. The service will provide commuters to and from Mid Point Technology Park with transportation approximately every 25 minutes during these commute hours.
